Denver Council On Foreign Relations

Who we are

The Denver Council on Foreign Relations  is committed to heightening public awareness and building understanding of contemporary and emerging international issues. By providing education on global affairs to our members and the public, the Denver Council on Foreign Relations helps people understand international issues and appreciate their local impact.

We do this by hosting a range of events, forums, and discussions, designed to help people gain access to experts on national and international issues. We connect people from business, education, government, and non-profits to promote understanding, dialogue, and active participation in shaping our interconnected world.

DCFR is a community committed to an open, inclusive, forward-looking exploration of global issues.

A History Rooted in the Community

For over 85 years, the Denver Council on Foreign Relations has conducted candid, informed discussions among a cross-section in the Front Range community – including business, law, military, diplomatic, medical, university and other professionals – as well as the national and international policy communities in order to heighten public awareness and build understanding of contemporary and emerging international issues.  Hosting an array of guest speakers for dinners, special breakfasts and lunches, as well as sponsoring a range of educational programs and opportunities, DCFR seeks a better informed Colorado regarding the global issues that impact us all.  Founded in 1938 as a committee of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, the Denver Council on Foreign Relations (DCFR) is incorporated as an independent, non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

Our Mission

The Denver Council on Foreign Relations is building an informed, inclusive, and globally engaged community by providing education on international affairs and their local impact.

Our Vision

We strive to promote global awareness, illuminate a complex world, and inspire the next generation of internationally-minded leaders.

75th Anniversary Celebration

On May 13, 2014, the Denver Council on Foreign Relations, joined by Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, celebrated its 75th Anniversary. During this celebration, the DCFR began awarding distinguished members of the community with the Leadership in Global Engagement Award.  Recepients are recognized for their outstanding achievements in linking Denver, the Front Range, and Colorado via global, international, national, statewide, and local engagement.
